When you come for worship people will greet you with a warm welcome. You’ll find plenty of parking, including accessible spaces with a smooth, level entrance into the sanctuary. An usher will give you a program we call a ‘bulletin,’ so you can join in the prayers and the songs during the worship service, and learn what’s going on at the church that week.
If you come with children, they might be excited to join one of our more familiar kids in lighting the candles, or helping pull the rope to ring the bell that opens worship. We’ll introduce you to one of the teachers, or other parents with children who can show you where the nursery and Sunday School classes are. Children and teens start in the service with you, and may join others up front in the Children’s Circle. Then they are welcome to troupe out with the other children to learn and play together, or stay with you in worship– whatever is most comfortable for them and for you.
To make sure everyone can hear the meaningful words and music, we offer personal hearing devices that are wired right in to the quality sound system, with comfortable ear buds that you can sign out and reserve in the sound booth for future Sundays.
As everyone gathers in the sanctuary, you can spend some time
getting to know people
who are here. After the pastor welcomes us, there is an opportunity to greet those seated nearest you with a simple hello, or with a blessing like "Christ's peace be with you." After the worship service, many people stay to visit and share refreshments.
Is something or someone on your mind? Our caring community welcomes you to bring your concerns and celebrations into our midst. We share our joys and they become greater; we share our sorrows and they become easier to bear. There is a table in the corner of the sanctuary where people can light a candle and spend some time in prayer. And during each worship service, one of our pastors leads a time of sharing, where anyone can request prayer for themselves and others, and give thanks for life’s blessings.
Music is an enlivening part of our Sundays – you’ll feel toe-tapping rhythms and lyrical melodies – some contemporary, some ancient, all with words that express hope, faith, and compassion. The worship leaders focus on a theme which weaves through the prayers, songs, and scripture reading. In the weekly message, the pastor invites us in countless ways to think, and feel, and become an ever-fuller expression of God’s love for the world.
The service ends with announcements of opportunities for service and community-building – a reminder that life with God is as much about Monday through Saturday as it is about Sunday (maybe even more!). We move into the afternoon with music, snacks and conversation in the rear of the sanctuary, out in the garden and play area, and sometimes a fuller meal shared in Koinonia House.
